The Challenge

Danila Dilba Health Service

Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing culturally-appropriate, comprehensive primary health care and community services to Biluru (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) people in the Yilli Rreung (greater Darwin) region of the Northern Territory. Their mission is to provide high-quality clinical services that are culturally appropriate and ensure continuity of care. To do this, they recognised a need to attract the best talent to join their organisation. However, they faced significant challenges in talent attraction.

DDHS had great employee benefits and a unique offering but needed a way to promote these opportunities to the marketplace. DDHS also wanted to build and develop an internal talent pool for leadership and management roles, and retain leaders and succession candidates to fill key positions.

The Solution

Building a Powerful Employer Brand

DDHS partnered with Scout Talent’s Employer Branding Specialists to strengthen their brand and attract great talent to meet their organisational goals.

Our Specialists used helped DDHS to articulate their authentic employer brand messaging. Our Specialists supported the team in managing and growing key channels and promoting their new message to the marketplace.

We amplified their brand messaging through digital initiatives by restructuring and updating the copy on their careers website, and enhancing their recruitment advertisement copy. We also showcased their team members, values and organisational culture through an attractive careers video. We also filmed individual employee profile stories to showcase roles they regularly recruit for, such as doctors, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, nurses and project officers. These videos were supplemented by written people stories.

The Results

An Award-Winning Result

AHRI’s prestigious Stan Grant Indigenous Employment Award recognises excellence in Indigenous employment initiatives and programs in the workplace. The award is competitive and has a range of criteria for employers to meet to be eligible.

Through DDHS’ Employer Branding Project, our Specialists delivered brand messaging, written and video employee profile stories, which supplemented the examples the organisation needed to win the award.

We congratulate DDHS on winning this prestigious award. This mark of excellence solidified their new market position as an employer of choice.

In addition to the award, DDHS:

  • reduced employee turnover by 14%
  • reduced absenteeism by an average rate of -3.5 days per employee
  • receive increased views of their careers website and recruitment advertisements
  • consistently attract a higher volume of views and quality applications for each vacancy
  • increased their quantity of applications and have a more engaged candidate pool
  • reduced their time to hire and cost per hire
  • are now less dependent on and temporary and casual employees.
